Total income for the food and beverages industry for March 2012

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for March 2012 increased by 6,8% compared with March 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (7,0% and contributing 6,0 percentage points).

The largest contributor to the annual growth rate of 6,8% in total income for March 2012 was takeaway and fast-food outlets (14,6% and contributing 4,1 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (4,2% and contributing 2,3 percentage points) and catering services (2,2% and contributing 0,4 of a percentage point).

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the first quarter of 2012 increased by 6,6% compared with the first quarter of 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (6,6% and contributing 5,7 percentage points).

The year-on-year increase of 6,6% in total income for the first quarter of 2012 was driven mainly by takeaway and fast-food outlets (11,6% and contributing 3,3 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (3,5% and contributing 1,9 percentage points) and catering services (8,6% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).
