The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the first quarter of 2012 increased by 6,6% compared with the first quarter of 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (6,6% and contributing 5,7 percentage points).

The year-on-year increase of 6,6% in total income for the first quarter of 2012 was driven mainly by takeaway and fast-food outlets (11,6% and contributing 3,3 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (3,5% and contributing 1,9 percentage points) and catering services (8,6% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).
