Total income for the food and beverages industry for January 2012

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for January 2012 increased by 5,1% compared with January 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (5,3% and contributing 4,5 percentage points).

The main contributor to the annual growth rate of 5,1% in total income for January 2012 was catering services (16,0% and contributing 2,3 percentage points), followed by takeaway and fast-food outlets (6,7% and contributing 2,0 percentage points) and restaurants and coffee shops (1,5% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the three months ended January 2012 increased by 5,7% compared with the three months ended January 2011. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (6,7% and contributing 5,7 percentage points).

The year-on-year increase of 5,7% in total income for the three months ended January 2012 was driven mainly by takeaway and fast-food outlets (11,9% and contributing 3,4 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (2,9% and contributing 1,6 percentage points).
