The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for June 2011 was 0,9% lower than June 2010. The main contributors to this decrease were bar sales (-6,1% and contributing -0,6 of a percentage point) and food sales (-0,3% and contributing -0,2 of a percentage point).

The annual negative growth rate of 0,9% in total income for June 2011 was driven by restaurants and coffee shops (-4,9% and contributing -2,6 percentage points). This decrease was to a large extent counteracted by the increases recorded for takeaway and fast-food outlets (5,4% and contributing 1,4 percentage points), other catering services (2,8% and contributing 0,1 of a percentage point) and caterers (0,9% and contributing 0,1 of a percentage point).

Total income from food and beverages industry for the second quarter of 2011

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the second quarter of 2011 increased by 3,2% compared with the second quarter of 2010. The main contributor to this increase was food sales (3,9% and contributing 3,4 percentage points).

The year-on-year increase of 3,2% in total income for the second quarter of 2011 was mainly driven by takeaway and fast-food outlets (10,2% and contributing 2,7 percentage points), followed by restaurants and coffee shops (1,7% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point) and other catering services (1,1% and contributing 0,1 of a percentage point).
