The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for May 2010 was 3,2% higher than May 2009. Higher income was recorded for food sales (1,9% and contributing 1,7 percentage points), bar sales (7,7% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point) and other income (54,5% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point).

The main contributors to the annual positive growth rate of 3,2% in total income for May 2010 were takeaway and fast-food outlets (4,1% and contributing 1,0 percentage point), restaurants and coffee shops (1,7% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point) and caterers (5,1% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point).

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for the three months ended May 2010 increased by 5,2% compared with the three months ended May 2009. Increases were reported for food sales (3,3% and contributing 2,9 percentage points), bar sales (15,7% and contributing 1,6 percentage points) and other income (44,9% and contributing 0,7 of a percentage point).

The annual increase of 5,2% in total income for the three months ended May 2010 was mainly due to the increases reported for caterers (17,1% and contributing 2,6 percentage points) and restaurants and coffee shops (2,1% and contributing 1,2 percentage points).
