Key findings: P6420 - Food and beverages, October 2009

The total income generated by the food and beverages industry for October 2009 decreased by 0,9% compared with October 2008. The decrease was mainly due to a decrease in income from food sales (-0,9% and contributing -0,8 of a percentage point).

The main contributors to the decrease of 0,9% in total income for October 2009 compared with October 2008 were restaurants and coffee shops (-3,6% and contributing -2,0 percentage points) and other catering services (-22,8% and contributing -1,1 percentage points). However, these decreases were partly counteracted by an increase in income for takeaway and fast-food outlets (10,4% and contributing 2,3 percentage points).
