Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, December 2024

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 7,2% in December 2024 compared with December 2023.

Income from accommodation increased by 12,1% year-on-year in December 2024, the result of a 0,2% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and an 11,8% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In December 2024, the main contributors to the 12,1% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  • hotels (13,6% and contributing 8,1 percentage points); and
  • ‘other’ accommodation (10,5% and contributing 3,5 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 11,8% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared with the fourth quarter of 2023. The main contributors to this increase were:

  •  hotels (13,0% and contributing 7,7 percentage points); and
  •  ‘other’ accommodation (9,8% and contributing 3,4 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation decreased by 0,9% month-on-month in December 2024, following an increase of 1,4% month-on-month in November 2024.
