Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, September 2024

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 8,6% in September 2024 compared with September 2023.

Income from accommodation increased by 13,9% year-on-year in September 2024, the result of a 3,5% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 10,1% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In September 2024, the main contributors to the 13,9% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  • hotels (15,9% and contributing 9,1 percentage points); and
  •  ‘other’ accommodation (12,9% and contributing 4,6 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 9,0% in the third quarter of 2024 compared with the third quarter of 2023. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • ‘other’ accommodation (12,6% and contributing 4,6 percentage points); and
  • hotels (6,6% and contributing 3,7 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation increased by 0,5% month-on-month in September 2024, following a decrease of 0,6% month-on-month in August 2024.
