Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, June 2024

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 5,7% in June 2024 compared with June 2023.

Income from accommodation increased by 8,9% year-on-year in June 2024, the result of a 0,2% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and an 8,7% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In June 2024, the main contributors to the 8,9% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  •  ‘other’ accommodation (12,2% and contributing 4,1 percentage points); and
  •   hotels (6,7% and contributing 4,1 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 7,7% in the second quarter of 2024 compared with second quarter of 2023. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (6,5% and contributing 4,0 percentage points); and
  •   ‘other’ accommodation (10,3% and contributing 3,3 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation increased by 5,8% month-on-month in June 2024, following an increase of 9,4% month-on-month in May 2024.
