Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, February 2023

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 34,8% in February 2023 compared with February 2022.

Income from accommodation increased by 59,4% year-on-year in February 2023, the result of a 12,0% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 42,3% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In February 2023, the largest contributors to the 59,4% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  •  hotels (69,1% and contributing 35,0 percentage points); and
  •   ‘other’ accommodation (55,9% and contributing 22,0 percentage points).
Income from accommodation increased by 51,6% in the three months ended February 2023 compared with the three months ended February 2022. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (65,1% and contributing 30,9 percentage points); and
  •   ‘other’ accommodation (44,5% and contributing 18,8 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation increased by 2,7% month-on-month in February 2023 following a decrease of 0,3% month-on-month in January 2023.
