Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, November 2022

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 28,0% in November 2022 compared with November 2021.

Income from accommodation increased by 44,6% year-on-year in November 2022, the result of a 19,9% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 20,6% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In November 2022, the largest contributors to the 44,6% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation were:

  •  hotels (55,0% and contributing 26,4 percentage points); and
  • ‘other’ accommodation (34,8% and contributing 15,0 percentage points.

Income from accommodation increased by 51,4% in the three months ended November 2022 compared with the three months ended November 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (70,7% and contributing 32,0 percentage points); and
  •  ‘other’ accommodation (35,6% and contributing 16,3 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation decreased by 2,2% month-on-month in November 2022 and increased by 0,8% month-on-month in October 2022.
