Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, November 2020

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry decreased by 65,5% in November 2020 compared with November 2019.

 

Income from accommodation decreased by 66,8% year-on-year in November 2020, the result of a 52,7% decrease in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 29,7% decrease in the average income per stay unit night sold.

 

In November 2020, all accommodation types recorded large negative year-on-year growth in income from accommodation. The largest year-on-year decreases in income from accommodation were reported by:

  • hotels (-69,6% and contributing -47,6 percentage points); and

  • ‘other’ accommodation (-62,3% and contributing -16,9 percentage points).

 

Income from accommodation decreased by 68,8% in the three months ended November 2020 compared with the three months ended November 2019. The main contributors to this decrease were:

  • hotels (-72,8% and contributing -47,6 percentage points); and

  • ‘other’ accommodation (-62,4% and contributing -18,8 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted income from accommodation decreased by 0,4% month-on-month in November 2020 and increased by 20,0% month-on-month in October.
