Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, November 2015

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 6,5% in November 2015 compared with November 2014.

Income from accommodation increased by 10,3% year-on-year in November 2015, the result of a 1,5% decrease in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 12,0% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In November 2015, the types of accommodation that recorded positive year-on-year growth in income from accommodation were guest-houses and guest-farms (17,5%), ‘other’ accommodation (10,9%) and hotels (9,4%).

The main contributors to the 10,3% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation in November 2015 were hotels (contributing 6,2 percentage points) and ‘other’ accommodation (contributing 2,9 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 8,6% in the three months ended November 2015 compared with the three months ended November 2014. The main contributors to this increase were:

hotels (7,7% and contributing 5,0 percentage points); and
‘other’ accommodation (8,7% and contributing 2,4 percentage points).
