Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, October 2015

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 8,4% in October 2015 compared with October 2014.

Income from accommodation increased by 7,1% year-on-year in October 2015, the result of a 3,9% decrease in the number of stay unit nights sold and an 11,4% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In October 2015, the types of accommodation that recorded the highest year-on-year growth rates in income from accommodation were guest-houses and guest-farms (12,0%) and 'other' accommodation (9,4%).

The main contributors to the 7,1% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation in October 2015 were hotels (contributing 3,6 percentage points) and ‘other’ accommodation (contributing 2,7 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 7,4% in the three months ended October 2015 compared with the three months ended October 2014. The main contributors to this increase were:
• hotels (5,7% and contributing 3,7 percentage points); and
• 'other' accommodation (9,4% and contributing 2,7 percentage points) .
