Results for Tourist Accommodation June 2014


Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 7,1% in June 2014 compared with June 2013.

 
Income from accommodation increased by 9,1% year-on-year in June 2014, the result of a 2,3% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 6,6% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.


In June 2014, the types of accommodation that recorded the highest year-on-year growth rates in income from accommodation were guest-houses and guest-farms (19,3%) and ‘other’ accommodation (15,4%).

  • The main contributors to the 9,1% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation in June 2014 were hotels (contributing 4,0 percentage points) and ‘other’ accommodation (contributing 3,8 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 12,5% in the second quarter of 2014 compared with the second quarter of 2013. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (7,8% and contributing 5,2 percentage points); and
  • ‘other’ accommodation (19,9% and contributing 5,2 percentage points).
