Results for Tourist Accommodation November 2013


Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 10,5% in November 2013 compared with November 2012.

Income from accommodation increased by 12,8% year-on-year in November 2013, the result of a 9,3% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 3,2% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

In November 2013, the types of accommodation that recorded positive year-on-year growth rates in income from accommodation were guest-houses and guest-farms (26,4%), hotels (12,5%) and `other` accommodation (10,4%).

  • The main contributors to the 12,8% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation in November 2013 were hotels (contributing 8,3 percentage points) and `other` accommodation (contributing 2,7 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 10,9% in the three months ended November 2013 compared with the three months ended November 2012. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (10,5% and contributing 6,9 percentage points); and
  • `other` accommodation (11,7% and contributing 3,1 percentage points)
