Key findings: P6410 - Tourist accommodation, April 2013


Measured in nominal terms (current prices), total income for the tourist accommodation industry increased by 7,2% in April 2013 compared with April 2012.

Income from accommodation increased by 4,2% year-on-year in April 2013, the result of a 0,9% increase in the number of stay unit nights sold and a 3,3% increase in the average income per stay unit night sold.

The main contributor to the 4,2% year-on-year increase in income from accommodation in April 2013 was hotels (6,7% and contributing 4,3 percentage points).

Income from accommodation increased by 10,5% in the three months ended April 2013 compared with the three months ended April 2012. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • hotels (10,5% and contributing 7,0 percentage points); and
  • `other` accommodation (11,8% and contributing 3,1 percentage points).
