Income from accommodation increases

Income from accommodation in the first quarter of 2008 increased by 30,5%  (R790,7 million) compared with the first quarter of 2007. This increase was partly the result of the switch of Easter holidays and the bulk of school holidays from April in 2007 to March in 2008.

Furthermore, income from accommodation in March 2008 increased by 35,9% (R330,8 million) compared to March 2007.

Stay units available

The number of stay units available between the first quarter of 2008 and the first quarter of 2007 increased slightly by 0,4%. In addition, there was a slight increase of 0,4% in the number of stay units available during March 2008 (107 400) compared to March 2007 (107 000).

Number of stay unit nights sold increases

The number of stay unit nights sold during the first quarter of 2008 increased by 17,0% (from 4,6 million to
5,4 million) compared to the first quarter of 2007. The number of stay unit nights sold for March 2008 increased by 23,3% (from 1,7 million to 2,2 million) compared to March 2007.

Occupancy rate increases

The occupancy rate during the first quarter of 2008 increased by 15,3% (to 56,0%) compared to the first quarter of 2007. Furthermore, the occupancy rate for March 2008 increased by 22,8% (to 61,5%) compared to March 2007.
