Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, September 2020

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales decreased by 0,8% year-on-year in September 2020. Negative annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (-16,0%);
  • convenience store sales (-10,9%); and
  • new vehicle sales (-2,3%).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2,6% in September 2020 compared with August 2020. This followed month-on-month changes of 6,8% in August 2020 and 3,3% in July 2020.

 

In the third quarter of 2020, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 75,4% compared with the second quarter of 2020.

 

Motor trade sales decreased by 8,8% in the third quarter of 2020 compared with the third quarter of 2019. The main negative contributors to this decrease were:

·         fuel sales (-20,3% and contributing -6,0 percentage points); and

·         new vehicle sales (-13,2% and contributing -3,4 percentage points).
