Actual motor trade sales estimates

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 1,9% year-on-year in December 2019. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:
used vehicle sales (9,4%);
new vehicle sales (6,3%); and
workshop income (6,0%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 0,8% in December 2019 compared with November 2019. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,9% in November 2019 and 0,8% in October 2019.

In 2019, motor trade sales increased by 0,6% compared with 2018. The largest contributor was sales of accessories (3,4% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 2,3% in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared with the previous quarter.

Motor trade sales decreased by 1,1% in the fourth quarter of 2019 compared with the fourth quarter of 2018. The main negative contributor was fuel sales (-6,7% and contributing -2,1 percentage points).
