Actual motor trade sales estimates


Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade was flat between September 2018 and September 2019. The largest positive annual growth rates were recorded for:

·         workshop income (6,1%);

·         sales of accessories (4,9%); and

·         used vehicle sales (3,8%).


Fuel sales declined by 6,6% year-on-year in September 2019.


Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 2,7% in September 2019 compared with August 2019. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,0% in August 2019 and 1,0% in July 2019.


In the third quarter of 2019, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,1% compared with the previous quarter.


Motor trade sales increased by 2,2% in the third quarter of 2019 compared with the third quarter of 2018. The main contributors were:

·         new vehicle sales (6,3% and contributing 1,6 percentage points); and

·         used vehicle sales (5,9% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).
