Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, February 2023

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), motor trade sales decreased by 1,5% year-on-year in February 2023. Negative annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • used vehicle sales (-11,4%);
  • convenience store sales (-8,0%); and
  • workshop income (-4,5%).

 

The largest negative contributor to this decrease was used vehicle sales (contributing -2,5 percentage points).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1,2% in February 2023 compared with January 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,6% in January 2023 and -0,1% in December 2022. In the three months ended February 2023, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 1,0% compared with the previous three months.

 

Motor trade sales decreased by 0,7% in the three months ended February 2023 compared with the three months ended February 2022. The main negative contributor to this decrease was used vehicle sales (-11,2% and contributing -2,4 percentage points).

 

The largest positive contributor was new vehicle sales (7,6% and contributing 1,8 percentage points).
