Actual motor trade sales estimates

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 3,5% year-on-year in February 2018. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (7,7%);
  • new vehicle sales (5,6%); and
  • convenience store sales (4,7%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 0,2% in February 2018 compared with January 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,6% in January 2018 and -0,1% in December 2017.

In the three months ended February 2018, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,6% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 4,9% in the three months ended February 2018 compared with the three months ended February 2017. The main contributors were:

  • fuel sales (9,9% and contributing 2,7 percentage points); and
  • new vehicle sales (4,7% and contributing 1,3 percentage points).
