Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, October 2022

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 17,2% year-on-year in October 2022. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (26,8%);
  • new vehicle sales (23,7%); and
  • workshop income (19,0%).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 1,3% in October 2022 compared with September 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,2% in September 2022 and 3,4% in August 2022.

 

In the three months ended October 2022, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 5,6% compared with the previous three months.


Motor trade sales increased by 21,1% in the three months ended October 2022 compared with the three months ended October 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • fuel sales (33,4% and contributing 9,5 percentage points);
  • new vehicle sales (22,8% and contributing 5,4 percentage points);
  • sales of accessories (11,9% and contributing 2,2 percentage points); and
  • used vehicle sales (10,1% and contributing 2,1 percentage points).
