Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, September 2022

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 22,2% year-on-year in September 2022. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (35,9%);
  • workshop income (34,3%); and
  • new vehicle sales (22,4%).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1,1% in September 2022 compared with August 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 6,0% in August 2022 and 2,4% in July 2022.

 

In the third quarter of 2022, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 7,4% compared with the second quarter of 2022.

 

Motor trade sales increased by 25,9% in the third quarter of 2022 compared with the third quarter of 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • fuel sales (45,2% and contributing 12,6 percentage points);
  • new vehicle sales (21,7% and contributing 5,2 percentage points); and
  • used vehicle sales (15,8% and contributing 3,2 percentage points).
