Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, August 2022

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 24,5% year-on-year in August 2022. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (38,5%);
  • workshop income (32,8%); and
  • new vehicle sales (22,5%).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 4,1% in August 2022 compared with July 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,6% in July 2022 and 0,1% in June 2022.

 

In the three months ended August 2022, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 4,0% compared with the previous three months.

 

Motor trade sales increased by 24,2% in the three months ended August 2022 compared with the three months ended August 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

  • fuel sales (43,3% and contributing 12,1 percentage points);
  • new vehicle sales (17,0% and contributing 4,1 percentage points); and
  • used vehicle sales (19,0% and contributing 3,8 percentage points).
