Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, July 2022

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 31,5% year-on-year in July 2022. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

·       fuel sales (64,0%);

·       used vehicle sales (24,7%); and

·       workshop income (22,1%).

 

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2,3% in July 2022 compared with June 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of -0,4% in June 2022 and 2,2% in May 2022.

 

In the three months ended July 2022, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2,9% compared with the previous three months.

 

Motor trade sales increased by 21,6% in the three months ended July 2022 compared with the three months ended July 2021. The main contributors to this increase were:

·       fuel sales (39,9% and contributing 11,2 percentage points);

·       used vehicle sales (20,4% and contributing 4,0 percentage points); and

·       new vehicle sales (12,1% and contributing 2,9 percentage points).
