Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, August 2018

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 6,6% year-on-year in August 2018. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (25,1%); and
  • convenience store sales (5,4%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2,2% in August 2018 compared with July 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of -1,0% in July 2018 and 1,4% in June 2018.

In the three months ended August 2018, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1,1% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 6,2% in the three months ended August 2018 compared with the three months ended August 2017. The main contributor was fuel sales (22,6% and contributing 5,7 percentage points).
