Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, June 2018

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 5,0% year-on-year in June 2018. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (20,8%); and
  • convenience store sales (5,5%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales sales increased by 2,3% in June 2018 compared with May 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of 3,8% in May 2018 and -8,6% in April 2018.

In the second quarter of 2018, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 2,2% compared with the previous quarter.

Motor trade sales increased by 4,6% in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the second quarter of 2017. The main contributors were:

  • fuel sales (13,8% and contributing 3,7 percentage points); and
  • new vehicle sales (2,8% and contributing 0,5 of a percentage point).
