Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, April 2018

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 5,7% year-on-year in April 2018. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (10,5%); and
  • used vehicle sales (9,4%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 8,9% in April 2018 compared with March 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of 5,2% in March 2018 and 0,3% in February 2018.

In the three months ended April 2018, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 0,5% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 4,4% in the three months ended April 2018 compared with the three months ended April 2017. The main contributors were:

  • fuel sales (8,5% and contributing 2,3 percentage points); and 
  • new vehicle sales (5,3% and contributing 1,4 percentage points).
