Actual motor trade sales estimates

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 6,0% year-on-year in January 2018. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • fuel sales (9,9%); and
  • new vehicle sales (6,2%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 1,6% in January 2018 compared with December 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,0% in December 2017 and 1,7% in November 2017.

In the three months ended January 2018, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 3,1% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 6,3% in the three months ended January 2018 compared with the three months ended January 2017. The main contributors were:

  • fuel sales (10,1% and contributing 2,8 percentage points); and
  • new vehicle sales (7,2% and contributing 1,9 percentage points).
