Actual motor trade sales estimates

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 7,4% year-on-year in November 2017. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • new vehicle sales (12,8%); and
  • fuel sales (8,9%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1,3% in November 2017 compared with October 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of 2,1% in October 2017 and 1,8% in September 2017.

In the three months ended November 2017, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 4,5% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 6,4% in the three months ended November 2017 compared with the three months ended November 2016. The main contributors were: 

  •  new vehicle sales (11,1% and contributing 2,9 percentage points); and
  •  fuel sales (9,5% and contributing 2,5 percentage points).
