Actual motor trade sales estimates

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 3,3% year-on-year in May 2017. The largest positive annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • convenience store sales (6,0%);
  • fuel sales (5,7%);
  • workshop income (5,6%); and
  • used vehicle sales (5,4%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 1,6% in May 2017 compared with April 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of -2,1% in April 2017 and 0,4% in March 2017.

In the three months ended May 2017, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,2% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 2,2% in the three months ended May 2017 compared with the three months ended May 2016. The main contributor was fuel sales (9,3% and contributing 2,3 percentage points).
