Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, January 2017

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased by 6,8% year-on-year in January 2017. The largest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • used vehicle sales (12,7%); and
  • fuel sales (9,9%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,2% in January 2017 compared with December 2016. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,5% in December 2016 and 0,5% in November 2016.

In the three months ended January 2017, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 2,6% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 3,9% in the three months ended January 2017 compared with the three months ended January 2016. The main contributors were:

  • used vehicle sales (12,5% and contributing 2,2 percentage points); and
  • fuel sales (6,0% and contributing 1,6 percentage points).
