Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, January 2016

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales decreased by 2,7% year-on-year in January 2016. The largest negative annual growth rate was recorded for new vehicle sales (-9,3%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales decreased by 2,4% in January 2016 compared with December 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,0% in December 2015 and 1,1% in November 2015.

In the three months ended January 2016, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,2% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales increased by 0,3% in the three months ended January 2016 compared with the three months ended January 2015. The main contributor to this increase was sales of accessories (8,4% and contributing 1,5 percentage points).
