Actual motor trade sales estimates

Motor trade sales for the three months ended May 2012 increased by 12,7% compared with the three months ended May 2011. Sales for the corresponding period in 2011 increased by 12,4%.

The major contributors to the increase of 12,7% were new vehicle sales (18,3% and contributing 5,0 percentage points), fuel sales (14,6% and contributing 4,0 percentage points) and sales of accessories (10,7% and contributing 1,9 percentage points).

Motor trade sales rose by 16,7% year-on-year in May 2012. The highest annual growth rate was recorded for new vehicle sales (27,7%), followed by sales of accessories (15,0%), fuel sales (13,9%) and workshop income (13,7%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales

In May 2012 seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 3,2% month-on-month, following month-on-month changes of 2,6% in April 2012 and -1,2% in March 2012. Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the three months ended May 2012 increased by 4,2% compared with the three months ended February 2012.
