Actual motor trade sales estimates

The actual motor trade sales for the three months ended August 2011 increased by 13,3% compared with the three months ended August 2010. Sales for the corresponding period in 2010 increased by 16,4%.

The major contributors to the increase of 13,3% were fuel sales (24,0% and contributing 6,0 percentage points) and new vehicle sales (13,3% and contributing 3,6 percentage points).

Motor trade sales rose by 13,3% year-on-year in August 2011. The highest annual growth rate was recorded for fuel sales (24,9%), followed by income from the sales of accessories (12,2%) and new vehicle sales (11,2%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales

In August 2011 seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 5,0% month-on-month, following month-on-month changes of -5,3% in July 2011 and 2,9% in June 2011. Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the three months ended August 2011 increased by 0,7% compared with the three months ended May 2011.
