Actual motor trade sales estimates

The actual motor trade sales estimates for the three months ended February 2011 increased by 14,4% compared with the three months ended February 2010. Sales for the corresponding period in 2010 increased by 9,5%.

The major contributors to the increase of 14,4% were new vehicle sales (25,7% and contributing 6,7 percentage points) and fuel sales (15,0% and contributing 3,8 percentage points).

Motor trade sales rose by 14,7% year-on-year in February 2011. The highest annual growth rate was recorded for new vehicle sales (25,1%), followed by fuel sales (18,0%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales

In February 2011 seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased by 0,8% month-on-month, following month-on-month changes of 2,2% in January 2011 and 0,1% in December 2010. Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the three months ended February 2011 increased by 5,8% compared with the three months ended November 2010.
