Actual motor trade sales estimates

The actual motor trade sales estimates for the three months ended October 2010 increased by 17,9% compared with the three months ended October 2009. Sales for the corresponding period in 2009 decreased by 11,3%.

The major contributors to the increase of 17,9% were new vehicle sales (39,7% and contributing 9,1 percentage points), used vehicle sales (19,9% and contributing 3,7 percentage points) and fuel sales (11,9% and contributing 3,0 percentage points).

Motor trade sales rose by 13,9% year-on-year in October 2010, the eleventh consecutive positive growth rate recorded since December 2009.

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the three months ended October 2010 increased by 1,2% compared with the three months ended July 2010, while sales between September and October 2010 decreased by 1,2%.
