Actual motor trade sales estimates

The actual motor trade sales estimates for the first quarter of 2010 increased by 12,1% compared with the first quarter of 2009. Sales for the corresponding period in 2009 decreased by 12,9%.

The major contributors to the increase of 12,1% were new vehicle sales (25,4% and contributing 6,3 percentage points) and fuel sales (13,9% and contributing 3,3 percentage points).

Motor trade sales for March 2010 increased by 13,7% compared with March 2009, the fourth consecutive positive annual growth rate recorded since December 2009.

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the first quarter of 2010 increased by 5,2% compared with the fourth quarter of 2009, while sales between February and March 2010 increased by 3,5%.
