Key findings: P6343.2 - Motor trade sales, March 2008

Motor trade sales for the first quarter of 2008 increased by 4,7% compared with the first quarter of 2007 mainly as a result of weak vehicle sales. This is lower than the 16,8% increase reported for the first quarter of 2007 compared with the first quarter of 2006. The 4,7% increase for the first quarter of 2008 compared with the first quarter of 2007 was positively influenced by the high fuel sales which contributed 4,9 percentage points.

Motor trade sales for March 2008 increased by 1,3% compared with March 2007, while sales for the corresponding period of 2007 increased by 16,8%.

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales for the first quarter of 2008 increased by 2,9% compared with the fourth quarter of 2007.
