Key findings: P6242.1 - Retail trade sales, June 2018

Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), retail trade sales increased by 0,7% year-on-year in June 2018. The highest annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • retailers in household furniture, appliances and equipment (11,5%);
  • all 'other' retailers (7,6%); and
  • retailers in pharmaceuticals and medical goods, cosmetics and toiletries (5,3%).

The main contributor to the 0,7% increase was all 'other' retailers (contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).

Seasonally adjusted retail trade sales decreased by 1,2% in June 2018 compared with May 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,9% in May 2018 and -1,0% in April 2018.

In the second quarter of 2018, seasonally adjusted retail trade sales decreased by 0,4% compared with the previous quarter.

Retail trade sales increased by 1,1% in the second quarter of 2018 compared with the second quarter of 2017. The main contributor to this increase was all ‘other’ retailers (7,6% and contributing 0,8 of a percentage point).
