Key findings: P6242.1 - Retail trade sales, February 2014

Measured in real terms (constant 2012 prices), retail trade sales increased by 2,2% year-on-year in February 2014. Positive annual growth rates were recorded for:

  • retailers in textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (10,4%);
  • retailers in hardware, paint and glass (4,2%);
  • retailers in pharmaceuticals and medical goods, cosmetics and toiletries (1,3%); and
  • general dealers (1,1%).

The main contributor to the 2,2% increase was retail'ers in textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods (contributing 2,0 percentage points).

Seasonally adjusted retail trade sales decreased by 0,2% month-on-month in February 2014. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,5% in January 2014 and 1,0% in December 2013.

Seasonally adjusted retail trade sales increased by 2,1% in the three months ended February 2014 compared with the previous three months.
