Key findings: P6242.1 - Retail trade sales, September 2006

Retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for the third quarter of 2006, showed an increase of 10,7% compared with the third quarter of 2005. The corresponding growth rate for the third quarter of 2005 compared with the third quarter of 2004 was 5,9%.

Similarly, retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for September 2006, increased by 13,6% compared with September 2005.

Retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for the first nine months of 2006, increased by 9,9% compared with the first nine months of 2005. The 9,9% growth is the highest growth ever reported for the first nine months of any year since 2000.

Retail trade sales at current prices, for the third quarter of 2006, increased by 17,4% compared with the third quarter of 2005. Furthermore, retail trade sales at current prices, for September 2006, increased by 19,9% compared with a relatively low September 2005 sales estimate. The corresponding growth rate for September 2005 compared with September 2004 was 10,0%.
