Retail trade sales show a record increase in real terms

Retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for the three months up to August 2006, showed an increase of 9,0% compared with the three months up to August 2005. Similarly, retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for August 2006, increased by 8,7% compared with August 2005.

Retail trade sales at constant (2000) prices, for the first eight months of 2006, increased by 9,4% compared with first eight months of 2005. The 9,4% growth is the highest growth ever reported for the first 8 months of each year since 2000.

Retail trade sales at current prices, for the three months up to August 2006, increased by 15,8% compared with the three months up to August 2005. Furthermore, retail trade sales at current prices, for August 2006, increased by 15,7% compared with August 2005. The corresponding growth rate for August 2005 compared with August 2004 was 13,5%.
