Sales at constant 2019 prices: results for December 2023

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), wholesale trade sales decreased by 3,1% in 2023 compared with 2022 – see Table 2. In December 2023, wholesale trade sales decreased by 8,0% year-on-year.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 4,3% in December 2023 compared with November 2023. This followed month-on-month changes of 5,6% in November 2023 and -5,6% in October 2023.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 4,8% compared with the third quarter of 2023.

Sales at current prices: results for December 2023

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales decreased by 5,6% in December 2023 compared with December 2022. The main negative contributor was dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (-14,1% and contributing -4,2 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales decreased by 2,4% in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared with the fourth quarter of 2022. The main negative contributor was dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (-10,3% and contributing -3,0 percentage points).
