Sales at constant 2019 prices: results for December 2022

 

Measured in real terms (constant 2019 prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 1,2% in 2022 compared with 2021. In December 2022, wholesale trade sales decreased by 0,9% year-on-year.

 

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 2,7% in December 2022 compared with November 2022. This followed month-on-month changes of 0,8% in November 2022 and -1,3% in October 2022.

             

In the fourth quarter of 2022, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 0,2% compared with the third quarter of 2022.

 

Sales at current prices: results for December 2022

 

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 15,5% in December 2022 compared with December 2021. The main contributors were dealers in:

·        solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (49,1% and contributing 10,3 percentage points);

·        machinery, equipment and supplies (16,1% and contributing 2,2 percentage points);

·        ‘other’ goods (22,9% and contributing 1,8 percentage points); and

·        food, beverages and tobacco (9,5% and contributing 1,8 percentage points).

 

Wholesale trade sales increased by 17,4% in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared with the fourth quarter of 2021. The main contributors were dealers in:

·        solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (42,4% and contributing 9,2 percentage points);

·        ‘other’ goods (24,8% and contributing 1,9 percentage points); and

·        machinery, equipment and supplies (14,1% and contributing 1,9 percentage points).
