Sales at constant 2015 prices: results for October 2018

Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 3,7% in October 2018 compared with October 2017.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 1,0% in October 2018 compared with September 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,1% in September 2018 and 1,1% in August 2018.

In the three months ended October 2018, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 2,2% compared with the previous three months.

Sales at current prices: results for October 2018

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 12,5% in October 2018 compared with October 2017. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • Solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (29,9% and contributing 6,2 percentage points); and
  • machinery, equipment and supplies (22,2% and contributing 2,8 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales increased by 12,9% in the three months ended October 2018 compared with the three months ended October 2017. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (29,7% and contributing 6,1 percentage points);
  • machinery, equipment and supplies (21,3% and contributing 2,6 percentage points); and
  • 'other' household goods except precious stones (7,5% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).
