Sales at constant 2015 prices: results for May 2018

Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 0,5% in May 2018 compared with May 2017.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 1,1% in May 2018 compared with April 2018. This followed month-on-month changes of -3,0% in April 2018 and 2,9% in March 2018.
 
In the three months ended May 2018, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 1,0% compared with the previous three months.

Sales at current prices: results for May 2018

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 5,9% in May 2018 compared with May 2017. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (18,3% and contributing 3,5 percentage points); and
  • precious stones, jewellery and silverware (88,0% and contributing 1,5 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales increased by 3,8% in the three months ended May 2018 compared with the three months ended May 2017. The main contributor to this increase was dealers in solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (16,2% and contributing 3,1 percentage points).
