Sales at constant 2015 prices: results for December 2017

Measured in real terms (constant 2015 prices), wholesale trade sales decreased by 3,0% in 2017 compared with 2016. In December 2017 wholesale trade sales decreased by 5,3% year-on-year.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 1,1% in December 2017 compared with November 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of 1,2% in November 2017 and 5,3% in October 2017.
 
In the fourth quarter of 2017, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 1,7% compared with the previous quarter.

Sales at current prices: results for December 2017

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 1,0% in December 2017 compared with December 2016. The main contributor to this increase was dealers in food, beverages and tobacco (9,4% and contributing 1,9 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales increased by 4,4% in the fourth quarter of 2017 compared with the fourth quarter of 2016. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (11,1% and contributing 2,1 percentage points);
  • precious stones, jewellery and silverware (48,6% and contributing 1,0 percentage point); and
  • food, beverages and tobacco (6,1% and contributing 1,0 percentage point).
