Sales at constant 2012 prices: results for March 2017

Measured in real terms (constant 2012 prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 0,7% in March 2017 compared with March 2016.

Seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales increased by 2,2% in March 2017 compared with February 2017. This followed month-on-month changes of -3,5% in February 2017 and -3,9% in January 2017.
 
In the first quarter of 2017, seasonally adjusted wholesale trade sales decreased by 3,7% compared with the previous quarter.

Sales at current prices: results for March 2017

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), wholesale trade sales increased by 6,8% in March 2017 compared with March 2016. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (12,3% and contributing 2,2 percentage points);
  • food, beverages and tobacco (7,6% and contributing 1,3 percentage points); and
  • "other" goods (14,5% and contributing 1,2 percentage points).

Wholesale trade sales increased by 2,9% in the first quarter of 2017 compared with the first quarter of 2016. The main contributors to this increase were dealers in:

  • solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and related products (12,3% and contributing 2,2 percentage points); and
  • food, beverages and tobacco (5,6% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point).
